Great iPhone docking station for the office November 10, 2009 Uwe Weinkauf (Mountain View, CA United States) 54 out of 54 found this review helpful
There are plenty iPhone docking stations out there and some are quite expensive... so why not add a radio to it and a device from which you can easily use the iPhone as well?
Here were the criteria I went by:
1) Below $100
2) Easy to use Radio docking station
3) Slick design to put on my desk - not too big but yet suitiable to put on the desk with decent sound quality
4) While listening to music from the iPhone the music should stop playing so that I can take a call AND after the call is over I want to get the music to be turned back on where it stopped
5) Easy to use the iPhone from the docking station to dial numbers without breaking anything (most of the docking stations are a bit clunky when you try to put in the iPhone and then try to call people - you always have to use two hands to ensure the iPhone doesnt break anything on the docking connection).
After using it for a few weeks now all of the creteria are met in my opinion.
My biggest liking is actually how easy I can plug my iPhone into the radio docking station and can actually use the phone, look up contacts, do calls, etc with just one hand. Since it is right next to me I can simply use one hand to operate this little device. Unfortunatley (and I hope to see this feature in the future) the radio speakers are not turned on when someone calls... but I have the staion in arms length and the iPone speaeker do a good job or alternatlively I use the headset.
Also I use the iPhone as a wireless radio and with the iPhone in the docking station it becomes my wirelss radio so to speak. I have Pandora and other online radion service through the Apps provided by Apple. And in that instance the speakers do work!
And if I dont want to listen to internet or online radion stations I can easily switch with one button (the source button) to either an external MP3 Player, or the local FM radio stations.
The sound is quite descent but don't expect an super stereo and deep bass experience. But you can always attach bigger speakers later if you like.
So overall for $80 you get a stylish looking docking station for the iPhone and you can making calls from it, listening to online or local radion stations while charging your iPhone at the same time.
Best iPhone Alarm Clock there is ... by a mile November 19, 2009 Vik Mehta (mishawaka,in usa) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying that I have used most brands of iPhone alarm clock docking stations - including Luna, iHome, Sony, and Logitech. All of these suffered design flaws that were deal breakers for me (they may have had features that the Philips does not have -- but I didn't really need). Flaws included -- just not working as an alarm clock (logitech), being HUGE (iHome), being cheap/ugly looking (sony), and not offering good physical support of the phone (Sony, iHome, Luna). The Philips is a great clean looking unit - that your phone sits flush with -- it offers support in the back of the phone so if you accidentally hit your phone while it is on the dock you dont have to worry about damaging the connector. The Orange light is nice (and adjustable) - the day and date are displayed, there are separate alarms (customizable to weekdays, weekends or all days).
Now is it the best speaker system for your phone ?-- Not by a mile (there is no remote, the sound is only okay) -- but for a bedside alarm clock there is nothing on the market that compares to this. If that is what you need - buy this!!!
Perfect Bedside iPhone Companion! November 9, 2009 Paul 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have been using an old Philips alarm clock for years and was looking for an upgrade. I've been using this alarm clock for about a month and am really happy with it - it met all of my expectations and more.
Pros:
- It takes up much less room than similar devices.
- The LCD brightness is adjustable and isn't bothersome in the dark.
- I was worried that my iPhone wouldn't fit with its case on, but with the adjustable support there was no problem. The adjustable support also means you can plug an iPod Nano in without any problems.
- The alarm uses the iPhone's music to wake up and the volume is adjustable (it can start off much quieter than the alarm in the phone itself)
- Alarms 1 and 2 can be set Mon-Fri, Sat-Sun, and 7 days
- Sounds quality is impressive for the size (I actually use it to listen to internet radio from the iPhone)
Cons:
- With the time, day and date on the LCD it can be a bit hard to read, especially without glasses (not a problem for everyone)
Overall- I'm really happy with it - it's exactly what I wanted!
The best alarm clock for iPhone January 10, 2010 A. Gilbert (USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I did an extensive review prior to purchasing this item.
I wanted something small for my nightstand.
Important to me was also the possibility to charge my iPhone 3GS with the skin on (I have a Seidio Innocase II).
It works great.
The clock is very slick. Also you can dim the light and does not bother my sleep. The clock works in a "crescendo" and you can be awaken by FM radio, your itunes or a beep.
Highly recommend this item
Works great - wake up to internet radio! March 1, 2010 B. Beeman (San Clemente, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I originally posted this as an answer to one of the other reviews here, but then thought I should post an actual review so others could find it. I wanted to let everyone know that I have had no trouble using this with my ipod Touch 2nd generation OR my iPhone 3gs. It works great. I use it primarily with the ipod Touch hooked to the internet via the wireless connection to my home router. I can now wake up to Pandora, the NPR ap... love it! Also, I've had no trouble with the on/off switch or the snooze button. Took me a minute or so to figure out how to program the thing. If there is one thing that could be improved, it would be the instructions.
